On Thursday 15 May the Local History Group visited a little gem: Plumbs Cottage & Museum on Strand Wharf at Old Leigh-on-sea, led by the lady in pink, who told us the origins of the cottage built around 1850, & its environs, before the railway, & explained the use of some of the contents inside which have been owned, found, collected or donated, & arranged to show a family home. On display also are many antiquated implements used by locals in their working environment, by people such as Fishermen and the Smithy. Run by volunteers & support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the entrance is through the shop-front of The SMITHY & Leigh Heritage Centre. It's open every day except Mondays.
